Behind the Scenes|Please Help!

Post by Hardi_95 »

Hey everyone!

Thanks for helping settle in here. Most of my time up to this point here was spent establishing my wiki, which I hope meets your standards.

However, I want to return to mapmaking for the moment. I tried to make a roadmap similar to New Duveland/Jarraban/Teiko and others I have seen here. Unfortunatly, i find myself overwhelmed and unable to do so. Therefore I wanted to ask you guys here for suggestions/resources on how I should accomplish such a road map.

Which programs did you use?
Did you make all things from scratch or are there any mapmaking kits I could use out there?
Any special tips maybe?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Usually photoshop or illustrator is used,

You should try Inkscape, have a fiddle, it's a free vector drawing program, good for map making !

No worries on quality, take your time and enjoy :)

I used photoshop for mine, but found that to be a bit tedious and takes a long time to get everything right, a lot of trial and error!! Illustrator or any similar programs would be good for transit maps I think.

I had very little time these last weeks for Edenland and all you amazing guys, sorry for that. A fact that bugged me since my application is the flag, which I don't really like. I looked back to suggested designs from the beginning and built on that for an improved design.

It still upholds the basic idea of the original flag but looks better in my opinion. I have some alternatives which change the exact position of the individual elements(Stars, Turtle), but I like this one best.

I am open to your improvement suggestions and critique!

Thanks, glad that you all like it!

Is there a way to change the small icon of the wikipage on the front page?

If you upload a new version of the flag file then it updates across the wiki.

Edit: I see you have done that. It's just a cache thing then. It's fine on my computer (the new flag is showing)
