Members of the AIN community,

We were hoping to not have to make a post about disciplinary measures at all, much less a day after the recent elections. Unfortunately, here we are.

This pertains to some comments made on the Discord by Jmsepe. Specifically, these remarks:

Obviously the middle remark is unacceptable, and members thus far have expressed as much. More to the point, the existing AIN Charter, Article 4 C1.02(k), outlines that members "may not glorify Nazism in their posts," including "any speech that favours Nazism." It's clear that the comment above is a violation of this charter.

Article 2, C2.02(a) classifies glorification of Nazism as a Class A offence. By C2.02(b), such an offense demands a minimum ban from AIN of one year in the event of a Class A offence. However, recognizing that the AIN Charter is to be reviewed in the months ahead, noting that mandatory minimums are broadly ineffective and unjust, and acknowledging Jm's evident contrition and long history of contributions to the Alliance of Independent Nations, the Executive Council broadly agrees that a one year ban is too much. This isn't the Jm we know and love.

The Executive Council has determined that the following course of action will be undertaken:

  • Jmsepe will apologize for his remarks concerning Nazi Germany (see #serious-chat); and
  • Jmsepe will be barred from AIN (Discord, forums, wiki) for a period of 30 days, concluding on 31 March 2026. Further;
  • Additional remarks of this nature will not be tolerated.

Outrage at current world events is understandable, and we think it's widely shared in AIN. It's important not to let that outrage radicalize us. Jm has been with us for a long time. We want him to still be with us, and we hope a break will help settle things and give Jm a chance for reflection and calm.
