Admittedly I've done stuff like this both with and without SC4, but my intro to this group was decidedly through Giovanni letting me know what's up. I was building a region based on an alternate version of Kerguelen Island at the time but pivoted a couple of times to build something I thought would be cool, and building a city with a Baltic/post-Soviet feel hit a good chord.

So now that I've got more free time than I once had, I've been considering jumping back into things.

I've definitely kicked around the idea of a country based on Iberia making good on Spain's claims to Spanish Guinea, e.g. the landmass between the Niger and the Ogooue, roughly from Biafra through Cameroon and down halfway into Gabon. (The other one I'd been playing with was a northern Australia settled by Makassan trepangers, but Australia seems to mostly be in an exclusion zone, sadly.)
